2 thumbs up to guys at Brent Averill!
After 3 phone calls and days of research, I finally picked up a racked lunchbox with 2 Brent Averill 312 mic pres. Neve/API braniac Avedis helped me out and answered all my questions and was super curtious and nice as hell. I think we talked for 2 flippin' hours about the world of mic pre's. I wish ...

As always, incredible. Even better than I had expected. Very rarely am I in awe of a peer. Hopefully one day I can be as proud of my recordings as I am in awe of his.

Re: Mic question for Joel Hamilton (any anyone else)
So is that what the transformer/adapter would do? It has the transformer to make up for the loss in signal? Would you buy the transformer or re-wire the cable?
Thanks Beard.
Thanks Beard.

Re: Mic question for Joel Hamilton (any anyone else)
Thanks everyone. I'm thinking that the best way is to just use an adapter. I was told that while it is very easy to connect an XLR in place of the 1/4", this may cause the mic to act different that it normally would...noise etc... Although I'd like to put an XLR on there just for the ease of use. Hm...

Mic question for Joel Hamilton (any anyone else)
Joel, I saw an old post of your's about odd-ball mics. I just received (today) an Echolette Top-12 (D-12). You know the one. Right off, I was like, Bitchin! But then realized that my snake box doesn't have 1/4" inputs. I know this mic is 1/4" UNbalanced and all I really need is one of those transfor...

Re: Isolation Headphones: Reccomendations?
Hey SteveU, I have a set of the Extreme Isolation Headphones and I dig the hell out of them. I'm not a drummer but I did record some drums the other day and used them with great results. I don't have a separate control room so I'm forced to do all my recording and listening in the same room and they...

Re: Deliberate
I'm sorry guys and don't hate me but I'm going to go a wee bit off topic and ask Joel a question. But feel free to reply as well. Joel, I saw an old post of your's about odd-ball mics. I just received (today) an Echolette Top-12 (D-12). You know the one. Right off, I was like, Bitchin! But then real...

Re: Calling All Guitar Geeks and Tone Freaks!!
Hi, As far as versitality is concerned and having good tone I'd have to steer you to the Fulltone Fulldrive. You can have it sound like a tube screamer or you can turn the compression off and have it give a great transparent grind. I don't really like too many of his pedals but that one is one of th...

Mic Snake straight to Patchbay. Good? Bad?
Hi all, This is my virgin post. I have two questions and would certainly appreciate any input. 1) I'm putting together a small studio in my rehersal space that consists of an older Soundtracs 24 ch board, an Otari MKIV 8 trk 1/2", Digi002 and a rack that includes a Chandler TG2, one Distressor and o...
