I half expected this to be about mixing in France.

Re: Just Curious...

A recording is either good or it isn't. Sorry, but your client sounds like a dipshit, 20 recordings or not. And plenty of dipshits have 20 recordings. If someone said that to me I would lose all respect for him in that specific instant. Why? Because if he knew he wanted a shitty recording to begin w...

Re: Just Curious...

Your client is a moron (or possibly a shitty and insecure musician.) But I am certain you have already figured that out. I have always hated that fake credibilty lo-fi thing almost as much as I hate the idea that being a shitty musician gives you punk credibility. And Hot Blooded is a wretched song,...

Re: Hi-quality problem regarding snare

I mic both top and bottom but don't always use the bottom (it depends on how much of the actual snares I am getting from the top mic.) If it sounds good with the top mic alone then run with it.

Re: the 7 1/2 minute epic

["If you go past three three minute mark a loaded gun should be pointed at your head." Joe Strummer. thats got to be the most stupid thing i've ever heard besides Joe Strummer's solo records..all jokes aside it really is plain ignorant.. Unless you like song lengths that aren't a punishment. And mo...

Re: the 7 1/2 minute epic

I'm mixing one of these right now. Classic case. The mix that ate every fader on the console!!!! AAAAAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEE! Honestly, a disc with 11 songs and there are 2 others over 6 minutes in length. Nice on the one hand because of the depth beyond the usual 3 parts of a pop song. Something sort of ...

Re: For the parents on this board: Logistics question

I know there are quite a few others on this board who have kids. My question is: How and when do you record sans interruptions? Does it get any easier as the kids get older? How do you keep your marriage intact with all the gear purchases and free time spent holed up in your studio? I have a three ...

Re: Why?

Armchair's stuff is pretty funny in places, actually. It's the punctuation that gets annoying. Of course, the internet is the only thing that's going to revive English classes in elementary school - grammar skills, anyone? So hard to take someone seriously through a run-on sentence. This board is n...

Re: Why?

You guys are a bunch of faggots. Take your little electronica/crummy derivative radiohead-wannabe bands; your smart-ass, trite political opinions; and your self-promoting, disingenuous butt-kissing threads -- and go back to Wisconsin or Iowa or Brooklyn or wherever you clowns come from. Mom? Is tha...

I have the Avebsons and they are the best damned mics you can get for the dough. They are incredibly versatile. Pax, Steve PS: Thanks Raj.... I can't find any info on the Averson or Aberson microphones. Do you have a link to their site? Thanks. Please forgive my crappy spelling. I am new your count...

That "snack" as you so dismissively referred to it is actually something of a delicacy I'll have you know.
