There are so many good ones out there...from what it sounds to me like you're after, I'd recommend the Full-Drive or Full-Drive 2. The 2 has a clean boost and a more distortion-y side as well. I don't know a whole lot about 'em, but I saw a fella I know playing out last week with one between an olde...

Sony Tapecorder 500A

hullo, folks... Does anyone out there know much of anything about this particular unit? It's a stereo reel-to-reel, 1/4" machine with built-in amps/ detachable speakers...the amps work, and it looks like the transport might work except that I have no idea how the tape threads through the damned thin...

Thanks for the advice, everybody...a few observations I've made...first, apparently you can't bounce tracks on the X-12 without using a seperate deck to bounce to and from. It self-oscillates uncontrollably if you plug it into itself. Which sucks. I bought the X-12 really cheap in a hurry last year-...

I have a couple of the Radio Shack suction-cup $7 jobs, and they work well for recording from the phone, or recording from any kind of speaker or electro-magnetic output device (I use mine to pickup the tiny crappy speaker of a toy Kawasaki keyboard), but it definitely does not record guitar or drum...

Anybody going to TapeOpCon wanna do me a BIG favor?

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend...if anybody's planning on making an audio and/ or video recording of any of the discusiions, I'd gladly pay for a copy...especially the one that John Parish will be involved in...also, anybody in Kansas City read this?
