Forgot to mention - the board also has a channel strip with one Allison Research/Valley People Gain Brain and one Kepex.

FS: 1977 MCI/Sony JH-428B, In Seattle, Need to Sell ASAP
Hi All, Needing to sell my mixing board as soon as possible. I'm asking $3000 obo. Please don't be shy about making an offer - worst I'll say is no. It was made in Florida in 1977 by MCI/Sony. These boards are known for having big, fat bottom end, thick mids, and smooth highs. I bought it about 4 or...

FS: Blonde 421(dead), 2x AT Shocks, MBox
Got a few odds and ends lying around... Blonde 421N - this mic stopped working awhile back. No dents but it's old and scratched up. Has the original (tuechel?) male jack in the mic and comes with a 20' cable from female (tuechel?) to XLR male. Last time I plugged it in it passed signal but was super...

There's a slim chance you can find a used, non-discreet version of the Neve 33609 which is what almost exclusively lives on my drum bus. Or, I'd vote for the Alan Smart C2 as I think it sounds great for making drums "punchier" and it's in your price range. It usually stays on the mix bus for me, but...

I've got a Demeter and really like it. The studio I work at also has a Mic Mix Master Room vertical spring that's about 3 1/2 feet tall, non-adjustable, and absolutely amazing sounding. There's also a BX-10 that no one ever uses. Maybe it's broken, but I don't think so. I think it just sounds hollow...

Neve Pre Off Positions?
Anyone know why Neve preamps have an "off" position in what seems to be a somewhat random spot between 50 and 55 dB? I can understand the one between the mic and line gain positions, but the other just seems a bit odd. Anyone know Mr. Neve's reasoning for what seems to be a semi-regular annoyance to...

Check out the Big Spider by Verellen. Handmade in Seattle and has seriously amazing tone. You can get kindof a traditional SuperFuzz sound out of it and then engage the other switch for an instant My Bloody Valentine sound. Great pedal, super good dudes making them. Check them out here: http://www.v...

I've got an early VTCL-2. It's a cool compressor, but not an all-around workhorse and more of a very colored flavor. Sounds a bit like a cross between an LA-2 and an LA-3. Sounds great on some stuff like bass electric guitar, keys, some vocals). Sounds not very good on others like kick or snare, roo...

FS: Soundelux u195
Had this mic for a few years and it's just not doing it for me. Mic works perfectly and sounds as it should. Cosmetic condition is 9 out of 10. Comes with the wooden box but no shockmount. Early-ish serial number and has the threaded base. I can email pics upon request. Feel free to pm me or email d...

Every mic has it's own threshold before overloading. They are also individual when it comes to how fragile their diaphragms are. If I'm concerned about a microphone's capsule when putting it in front of a bass drum (as I am from time to time with vintage u87's, a u47, a Peluso 2247, and maybe a 414)...

Would like a better assortment of mics but I should learn how to EQ better first before blowing money on more mic's. I have to SoundReplace the kick 90% of the time anyway to keep it 'modern' but wish I didn't. I'd seriously consider selling your Beta 52. If you're okay with sound replacing, then c...

Not all three mics make into the mix every time, but sometimes they do. I've usually used a u87 outside which is okay or a Soundelux u195 which never excites me (and I'm actually thinking about selling), but the 2247LE is absolutely blowing me away. If I'm blending in the NS10 I'll usually roll off ...

Spent the day assisting Phil Ek on the new Shout Out Louds record. For fans of Swedish indie-pop it's going to be a must-have album. First full length they've done in over 3 years so they're really excited to be working on it. Assisting Phil is always fun too. Consummate professional and all around ...
