Thanks guys. I have tried all of these things and I've finally surrendered. I finally, out of pure frustration, used the line in on the back of it and it worked fine. I had to rig a few things out of my central station for this to work, but it's better than being frustrated

The Shure sm7 is great. I would also try an Audio-Technica 4033 or 4047..

I've been hearing the single 'don't take my sunshine away" on the radio here. The production is amazing. I love how the drums sound almost like the mic cables were crapping out. And man, that guitar tone when it stops and it's just guitar.. Really cool.

I have Ross Hogarth's "drum doctor" cd's. Great sounds on both of these.

Ross' drums can be heard on almost every record you love in the last 15 years.

Unless you go with something like extreme isolation headphones (which dont sound very good IMO), these are your best bet.
