Re: Help me calibrate ProTools

listen to the tracks to "see" if there is any distortion. The tracks sound fine on playback, but the client insists on blowing up the waveform to look for clipping. Sure enough, we see some of the peaks chopped a bit. Everything SOUNDS just fine but it doesn't LOOK right to the client I've been tol...

Re: Biggest Pet Peeve clients do in the studio...

Talking on cell phones in the control room. I usually just start raising the control room volume until they leave. Playing studio instruments without asking and then leaving them on or putting a guitar on the ground. Telling me how to mix when they've never even heard my speakers before. Complaining...

. was it churchill that said "i feel bad for those who don't drink, when they wake up in the morning, that's the best they are going to feel all day." Then there's "Sir, you're drunk!" Re: STILL Looking For Mic Stand Recommendations

Okay, I checked every UK music shop website I could think of and no one sells Quiklok mic stands. Don't contradict me. So... I can either buy locally. In which case my choices are: Stagg Stagg Stagg Stagg Or Stagg Or I can buy mailorder from Studio Spares; which gives me the choice of: K & M Some g...

whatever you do don't get a washburn. I don't even know why I have it. My buddy's mexi p-bass totally kills it and probably cost a whole extra 50 bucks.

If you see a 70's jazz or a rickenbackker of any year in your price range, jump.

Re: What should I ask Alan Parsons?

I say ask Alan Parsons is if there was any conscious intent to make the album coincide with viewing the movie? I read it on the internet. It must be true. ALAN PARSONS, Engineer, Dark Side of the Moon: There simply wasn't mechanics to do it. We had no means of playing videotapes in the room at all....
