Re: better overheads for low (7ft) ceiling?
cool..thanks for getting me kick started. The glass on the ceiling is an interesting idea. So you're saying to point the mics at the glass & get the reflection & it'll seem like the ceiling is higher..or that the mics are farther away..is that right? what heylow said is just what I was asking for..o...

better overheads for low (7ft) ceiling?
I'm thinking about the joshephson c42 or I might go cheaper & get a sound room pair of oktavas. Mostly recording heavy rock bashers & want something that isn't to harsh. I have been using the akg c1000's with the ua 2-610 pre. The c1000's aren't mine (the ua is). Time to get something different. lik...

Re: Recording Workshop
I went to the recording workshop 15 years ago when I was 19. Then I went straight out to california all excited to become an engineer. I couldn't really even get any studio's to talk to me. No one cared about the school. In fact they made fun of the school often & I was usually treated pretty badly....

Re: Home Speakers
oh yeah I forgot about those paradigm titans...great buy. I used to have some. the norhs look like hams. rounded on the inside like b&w mids but ported out the rear .no speaker box coloration or distortion from sound bouncing around inside hitting the back of the speaker...cool idea. I've never trie...

Re: What Did You Work On Today? 1-04-04
it's 1-6-04 now & I didn't do much today...I had a 3 song demo I did for a band mastered somewhere else today. It was the 1st time a recording of mine has been masterered. The band was happy, I was happy. It's really cool to a/b my mix with the mastered one. They did a great job making it sound bett...

Re: Sovtek Mig-60 is a piece of shite!
I love mine. I had a doom band use it the other day. We had to mess with the knobs a bit so it wasn't so sizzly but he was really into it & wants to buy one now.. I used a royer 121 & it was smooth & great. I tried the same amp, mic combo the next day (with a different gtr player) & it didn't sound ...

Re: Distorting vocals...on purpose
haven't used it on a recording yet but I did play around with sending vocals thru the behringer V-amp & it was pretty fun & easy. I liked the simulated blackface fender the most.

sennheiser 441 ..clip tip
I just bought a used 441 without a clip. I special ordered the square mic clip for $40. Then I had a session & couldn't wait to try the mic on the low tom. I just wrapped a sock around the mic to fatten it up & stuck it in a rode nt1 shockmount. Never had any slippage & it was totally shockmounted f...

I've seen queens of the stone age 2x on this new tour & the drummer has a speaker on the kick. It looked like it was an 8 or 10 incher. It sounded great. Sure wish I new what speaker that was.

Re: GC selling cheap Oktava condensers
I bought a pair from GC. They weren't even close to the same. One was really loud & clear & the other one was lifeless & quiet. I didn't spend a lot of time with em but I spent an afternoon trying them on vox, gtr & snare. The good loud one sounded cool on everything. I bet I could find a use for it...
