The 8th is dixie witch & jumbo's killcrane at the 15th street tavern. I'll be at both. Look up these clubs online...these place...

Re: recording super heavy doom ala Wizard

cool...all good advice..though I don't have analog tape or a very big room. I'll be recording them tomorrow & I'm really looking forward to it.. The band has great gear & are great players..I think they can pull off a very good live performance (adding Vox later). I will mess with compressing room m...

recording super heavy doom ala Wizard

Any of you guys listen to Electric Wizard? Sounds like the bass gtr & drums are recorded live together. You can hear the snare rattle with the bass gtr. Any of you record bass & drums loud together with good results? What's the trick? I've tried a few times & it really makes it hard to make the drum...

Re: anyone tried Behringer DSP8024 Ultra Curve RTA?

I borrowed one of those cheap $40 behringer omni's...ecm8000 a few weeks ago. Used it as a room mic for drums 2x & had great results. I think I'm gonna get one myself...it's cheap enough & I can probably find a few other good uses for it. I wish I could afford a really well known high dollar measure...

Re: anyone tried Behringer DSP8024 Ultra Curve RTA?

ok.. I just wanted to mention I took home & tried the new ultra curve deq2496 ($300) & it was cool as hell. It does more stuff than the dsp8024 but guess the rta function is the same. I liked it so much I ordered an old closeout dsp8024 since they are half the price. I know I need to work on my room...

anyone tried Behringer DSP8024 Ultra Curve RTA?

I know the room I mix in must be a little wacked..everything I mix that sounds cool in there sounds a bit bassy on most other systems. I'm getting better at knowing what to cut but I was just wondering if any of you have used the ultra curve as a room correcting eq. It's only like $300. If it works ...

Re: recording F#%$ing HARDCORE vox

An awesome old engineer dude I know who owns a studio told me to try a shure sm7 broadcast mic on any screaming loud vocal guys...it has worked great for me but who knows how it'll fit in your mix...on one recording we tried an akg 414 1st & it was just to clear & up front... a lot like your problem...

Re: Hating "affordable" monitors....

I had some bad luck with my krk v8's... one tweeter was dead when I bought em.... then a few months later something happened & the woofers both died at once...never did figure out why that happened. KRK was cool & fixed em right away but man what a pain in the ass.

Re: Budget All-Purpose Microphone

I try to use the rode nt1 on stuff all the time & never end up liking it...it was my 1st condenser but I just can't find a good use for it...But the studio projects C1 or an sm57 can pretty much do it all. 2 of each & add a 421 & you are really set for a lot of options. You can pretty much do it all...
