The motion sound amps have a starved 12ax7 tube in the preamp stage that just adds noise and harsh distortion. The motion sound amps are OK sounding, not the best. The spinning leslie type motion sound amps are great because they do spin. Tube amps do not guarantee warmth at all. But if you like tu...

you could get one of those 9v adaptors for your car and plug into that. As long as it's your audio source, why not make it your power source?

interning/assisting/apprenticing in Western PA?

So, I've been out of school for a year and a half now so that I could spend time touring and such. I've spent most of my time when I'm not on the road recording with my 8-track. Before I go back to school, I want to find out if the engineer's life is for me or not and I was wondering if there were a...

use a cheap microphone through an amplifier that has eq and a small speaker, set the gain till it's almost distorting (or use a fuzz box) then eq the amp as close to the sound your then mic that and try and eq it the rest of the way on your recorder.

the black album there's a documentary about the making of that album, I can't remember the title though. I think at one point they invite a stripper (CANADIAN STRIPPER!) into the studio after a session. 1.Swans - Soundtracks For The Blind 2.Kate Bush - The Hounds of Love (not just cause it's a good...

If you only have a few tapes that you'd like to use with your new machine and don't want to have to pay for a tech , then you could just take the 4 tape outs of your old machine and input them onto your new machine (if it records 4 tracks at once) and dub them onto new tapes.

this question kept me up last night

OK, I've got a multi-band compresser and I set it to limit things under 80hz and I give it a 15ms attack. For a 80hz sound to go through one cycle it takes 125ms. (right? I did 1/80) So how does it tell that it's an 80hz frequency in less than half the time it takes for that frequency to make a cycl...

maybe you could "work" an hour a week at minimum wage and just happen to spend a lot of time hanging out in the studio getting real world experience when you're not there for "work."

I really like multi-ing vocals with out of phase tremolos on all the tracks, gets a great effect on a note held out for a long period of time and the different takes dont hold it as well as each other. http://www.hairychestedrecords.com/mp3s/Boogdish%20-%20this%20dude%20is%20so%20mad%20at%20this%20c...
