wish me luck tommorow

I wasn't sure where to put this, or if it's too off-topic, so sorry if it is. Tommorow I'm going to the Kendrick guitar factory to talk to the owner about doing some basic assembly/soldering for them part time. I'm really excited and kind of intimidated. It turns out that the company is based in a v...

Re: hmmm

or if you really want to keep it cheap, just recycle cardboard. Cut it out in 10" by 5" pieces, score the center and fold. Use a paper clip to keep it closed, glue a small cover on there. You can get cardboard free from the dumpster, a hundred paper clips for a dollar and when I did this I was able...

I would say that the main question would be touring. It's been my experience that this is when most the albums get sold. If all the members of the band wouldn't be able to take a few months off of work to go around the country in a van, and if you guys can't afford a van, then I would hold off for a...

Well that speaker is active, if you're using a powered mixer or a power amp, then you could just use a passive speaker. That Behringer mixer would probably be ok, though it looks like it might be more channels than you'd need.

Rather than buying a keyboard amp, maybe you should get a small powered mixer (sometimes called a PA head) and a speaker. That way when you're playing those small gigs with no PA, you might also have something to sing through, and if you start playing another instrument in another band in a few year...

If someone here will make a pun about how the word "grill" can mean the covering of a diaphragm and a ridiculous fashion accessory, I promise to quote your post and write "+1" under the quote.

I feel like all of the advice has been pretty good so far (isn't it awesome how all women are basically the same and we can tell a complete stranger what a good gift to buy for someone is basing it only on their gender), and I'd just like to add that little doilies to put under tea cups at her tea p...

I use an Octava MK219. Pad on, rolloff off. Inside the drum, I pull the blanket out about halfway so it resonates a bit, and put it back in more for metal. the mk219 has personality. :] I used a 319 on a kick a couple weeks ago for the first time, I liked it a lot, I didn't have the guts to put all...

I've got an emax se, I love it. I sort of inherited it from my step-dad. The best part of which was that I found the receipt for it in the back of the manual. He bought it on Christmas eve for $6000 (and he had a kid of his own back then) and when I started using it it had been in a closet for five ...

if you're in digital land and have the infinite tracks required to do this, you could try setting up a room mic somewhere in the room and record a room track for every track, and if you're DIing things, run them through an amp to get a room sound for that too.

thanks for those of you who replied with constructive info. what I have been doing up until now is starting from scratch using only volume automation to get a decent sound. I was inpired to do this after watching Tom Dowd's "the language of music" and seeing how they only had giant volume knobs to ...

I had something happen today. I usually mic all my electric guitar parts with the mic right up on the grill. Today I think I accidentally stepped on a mic cable or hit the mic stand, because after recording a couple of rhythm parts I went back to the amp to change tones for the lead and the mic was ...
