Re: HELP: tuning guitars, 440hz, wtf?

Also...if you haven't, it's always a good thing to make sure your guitar is well intonated. This is important. Also... we were tracking bass the other day for our first full-length. Guitars, vocals, and some other miscellaneous stuff was already tracked. We had a tuner hooked up for the bass, every...

Tascam M-512 - What is broken?

I'm trying to find out what is wrong with a Tascam M-512 mixer. All the mic preamps work fine, and I am able to assign every channel to every buss without a problem. Also, the RCA direct outs on the channels work. The headphone output works fine in the both the left and right can. -UNFORTUNATELY- NO...

Re: HELP: tuning guitars, 440hz, wtf?

Take a look at the guitar tuner. I don't know if you have already done that, but a lot of guitar tuners can change the frequency that 'A' is 'set to'. In other words, you might have bumped a button on the guitar tuner, and it is tuning A at 443hz instead of 440. Also, you should check on the keyboar...

Re: Nickleback is really lame...yet funny...

I could be wrong, but I heard that the 2 songs were slowed down/sped up to match each other for the fun of it.

Even so, it's still disgusting.

Re: Going to be tracking a noise guy

Thanks for all the info gentlemen, really helpful. I will make sure he brings his own shit and blow his own stuff up. If I don't have a limiter what else can I do to make sure I don't go over the A/D. Does anyone have any expirence tracking with a radioshack mic, like a cheap $2.00. Here in Montrea...

Re: Have you ever repainted a mixer?

Also, as far as knobs go, how do you find out which knobs are compatible with which...uh...knob holders? Just measure the 'shaft diameter'?

How do you take knobs off mixers without pulling the wrong way, or too hard & breaking something?

This page looks promising!

Have you ever repainted a mixer?

I might be getting my hands on a cheap, old, beat up mixer, and am very tempted to paint the whole thing black and dark red. Has anyone done this before? How do you go about re-labeling any text on the mixer? Also, how can I find out where to buy replacement faders (just the knob itself, not the who...

Re: a couple phase questions

So, when Scodiddly says that "If two mics are "180 degrees out of phase" then they're really in phase but with opposite polarity.", it means that with two sources of exact opposite polarity, there is no cancellation, correct? No, there is complete cancellation if they are 180 degrees out of phase. ...

Re: Mixdown deck?

Our 3700 dat machine at KVRX has proven extremely reliable. However, has anyone else felt any animosity towards the converts on this machine? We constantly record bands live on the air, but we always record a soundcheck beforehand and have the band come and listen to it. 99 times out of 100, we are ...

Re: money matters

Wow, I think I made a post almost identical to this a couple weeks ago.

Since then, I have FINALLY gotten a response from the band... full of apologies, and more promises. Still haven't seen a check.

We'll see this week.
