And for those of you in on the tapeop buy, check the phase of the mic against a known good mic. They've been pretty hit'n miss on this end.
I've taken to QC'ing every microphone I sell, which is absolutely no fun for me, but it comes down to knowing when it goes out that it's right.

Hey Dave, Agreed, I guess my point is the microphone is *really* protected with the stock screening. If after grill removal you treat it like you'd treat a nice condensor, and don't put it front of air movement, it will disco for you for quite some time. I guess I would be recommending against doing...

Hey there, Had the opportunity to talk on the phone with Michael Joly the other day( some of you are familiar with his Oktava mods, www.oktavamod.com), and he asked me if I'd be willing to sell my ribbon mic models with grill modifications ( removal of inner mesh, basked, and removal of the silk fro...

The other thing to take into account, as a first time builder, is that the G9 is using potentially lethal voltages. Not to discourage you from doing it, but keep this in mind when working. Work carefully if you go down that path. You might try a kit project as a first go. Once you finish one, and ge...

I can also recommend Rick Erickson. Before I had my audio geek mojo on, I had him go through a couple Fender amps for me, and he did great work.

Hummm..... For my ears, I recommend Downward is Heavenward. Of course, actual milage may vary. I've got some Orange OR-120 amps in the works. Like the orange amps. Believe it or not, this will be an OR-120 someday :D http://www.shinybox.com/diy/shiny120.jpg The original line were made by Matamp, for...

Re: Just Curious...
As an artist, sometimes you hear things in your head in their entirety. It's like walkin around with a record in your head. So you let the stuff out, and it gets recorded, and then someone hits the play button, and you compare what you hear to what's playin in your head. Sometimes you get something ...

Hey There, I've got the power supply stabilization, the output stage, and the setup/calibration procedures, plus the gardner transformer datasheets (the original F700's used gardner transformers I believe) , and a top level hookup diagram (shows pinouts, etc., and is likely different than the Helios...

Any chance of getting a copy of the docs that you have for the F700? I've been hunting for them for months. I've got some partial info, but incomplete schematics.
And if the price don't shoot too high, I'm on them
