I usually buss the drums(sometimes with bass and sometimes with compression on the whole thing), vocals(if there are multiple leads, but not necessarily backgrounds), and sometimes a guitar buss. I tested the 5As the other day and thought they were damn bright.

I believe the dual 2.5s are louder than the rest. I got one at the end of 04 and was very disappointed at their volume. I think they get hot pretty quick. Sucks.

If you are recording drums, record them in a nice sounding room. Set up some room mics in places that sounds good and play with the distance from the kit until you get the depth you want to achieve.
