Wow, another shocked Tracktion user. I've been using Tracktion up to version 3 since it came out up until this week when I decided to make the switch to Studio One. I had no idea they did anything after Mackie dropped it. I tried almost everything else and Studio One was the only one worth switching...

I just contacted them to see what they say. I thought maybe since 2 out of 3 of mine did it that someone else may have had a similar experience, or someone could relay typical condenser mic failures. I am actually experienced in electronics repair, just not microphones, so if it was per se an easy f...

Fixing my broken CAD M179's

Hey guys, For years I had two CAD M179's that I used mostly for drum overheads. A while back one started distorting on everything so I got another one and soon enough another one of the mics started doing the same thing. so now I have 2 of 3 blown. Basically if you sing into it, the louder peaks wil...

WTB: Samson Q kick

I'm mixing in samples half the time anyway these days, so I'd like to free up my Heil PR40 for other things. I've heard these were good for the price. Why can't you get these things by themselves anymore? $50 PayPal shipped sound fair for a used one? I figure maybe someone has one laying around, see...

Out of curiousity, does it come to a point where the USB might be a better option than daisy chaining FW?

Say, your running three daisy chained FW interfaces recording 24 channels. Would you still say add the drive to the FW chain, or go USB at this point?

The way Scodiddly suggests, then I think the wire from the PT to the fuse would go straight to the white (neutral) wire of the power chord. Then the black (line) wire from the chord would go through the fuse, then to the switch, then to the PT via the other black wire. The way I have always done it ...

So you are just pulling the reverb tube when you test this out? I would get a 12ax7 and a 12at7 and swap 'em around with every tube separately and see if that does anything.

So the master volume doesn't affect the hum?

Also, stick a 'dummy plug' (one with the tip and ground connected) in the input and see if it stays the same.

I've used most of these. I think the best deal are the set of 5 Senheisers from BSW. They fit well, sound OK, and have OK isolation, mainly because they fit around your ears pretty good. I've had 2 of 5 go bad, but I got them probably 4 years ago. The AT M50's are awesome since they sound great, but...

The schematic is on this page - http://www.freeinfosociety.com/electronics/schempage.php?cat=1 (scroll way down) Seems to be a 600ohm-600ohm transformer. There's also a very detailed placement map of the components so you can check if anything else is missing. May not be as tough as it sounds. :-) ...

I use the 40 watt radio shack one. I probably should get a nice Weller, but I use the one I have a lot and it's been working. The tips do get dirty really easy, just make sure you have a wet sponge on hand at all times.

Building an amp with it now.

Has anyone done this yet around here? Seems like it would be difficult to get the drywall to fit perfectly flush against the ceiling with only finish nails holding it up while you are caulking. Also I haven't tried it yet, but isn't it a bitch to hammer nails into the joists that close to the ceilin...

I went ahead and tried the pre phase inverter one since it's so simple and it's pretty cool. I think the main thing that sounds killer about those amps is the output tubes distortion, so I don't know if I'll be better off if I do a different type of MV, but I'm pretty happy as it is. Checked out the...
