I just scored an Aphex Aural Enhancer (with "Big Bottom") - love the name!! I also scored a brand new set of Mackie MR8's on Ebay for under $500!! Yay Me!!

I pulled out the two inner screens of my MXL 990 and was very impressed with the resulting sound. A lot more "airy", well worth the 5 minutes with a pair of needlenose. I would suggest this step to anyone with a 990 before spending more money on a mic with similar results.
