I got an Agile mandolin a couple of years ago and I love it. Fully carved top (although possibly laminate back and sides, cant remember). Looks, sounds and plays great.

Some slapback and a big thick old reverb can sound really cool on a baritone guitar or picked bass for that james-bond-mystery-intrigue-soundtrack sounding bass. Also, I track a lot of jazz at my place, but will iso the upright bass in one of the dry booths. To put it in the same space with piano/dr...

Thanks! I appreciate it. Given the instrumentation, I cant imagine needing over the 16, but want to make sure. Last dumb question, If 16 channels of converters are at 24 bit, and the fostex only records at 16 bit, wont the computer just add zeroes onto the bottom? Actually, as I type this, I realize...

Quick question about clocking converters

OK. So I have 2 sets of converters that are matched. Both go to a M-Audio Lightbridge via ADAT lightpipe, which in turn feeds my computer with firewire. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProFireLightbridge-main.html I have a project coming up that I am concerned may need more than 16 tracks in a...

My 2 cents... I just spent about 30 grand on the move to our new location. Here s what I spent it on.... Probably about 19 to 20 thou on build-out. Framing, supplies, electrical, Heating/AC up grades, carpet, insulation, acoustic treatment, etc, not to mention countless hours designing, researching,...

The problems that have taken me the longest to get my head around are mostly in the "Communicating-With-Humans" category. (Which isn't to say that I ve actually got a handle on many of the technical one either, but...) PROBLEM: People taking roughs home from a tracking session, and throwing them up ...

Didn't realize that Carvin was in the monster-console biz... I always kind of think of them as the amway of the music world.

You can also use it to split a signal. Send the direct guitar to the converter or tape via the direct out on the channel, while sending it to 2 different busses, one for the clean chorus, one for the reamp to the over driven amp a la Frank Zappa. Record all three and mix to taste. Or take the stereo...

I also am very curious about this. I spoke with the IBP guy at TapeOpCon in June and asked him how the IBP box was different from a simple time delay. I didnt understand the explanation at all. My excuse is that I am not that bright and I was drinking at the time (of course, I think he was too...). ...

You might want to consider this.... I hope it s not too late for this post to be helpful, but last year, I was trying to buy 2" rockwool or 703 and was talking to a local (new mexico) insulation supplier. He told me about Owens Corning Fiberglass Duct Liner http://www.owenscorning.com/comminsul/prod...

Don't forget that you can buss some of what is coming off the play head back into the deck (creating feedback) for more of an echo effect as opposed to just a slap. This is the aural equivalent of standing in between two mirrors that are facing each other and seeing my bald head repeating off into n...
