HD24>interface TBD>MacBook

A friend is asking me about this setup and I don't remember if the HD24 will let you monitor through the lightpipe outs. If it will, I'm thinking that this wouldn't be a bad way to go, given a good FireWire interface and possibly a master clock. Is this crazy? And if it's not crazy, I'm not seeing a...

I'll use FM instead of Aja. If there is any amount of hi-frequency hype in the system, you'll know immediately. And the guitar and sax leads tend to be good indicators of how bad the 1.6-ish-ness is.

I like either Morcheeba's Trigger Hipper or Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up to check out the subs.

UAD Satellite?

I'm thinking of investing in one and the search here turned up precious little information. Does anyone here have one and how does it rate in the field versus the published specs? I'd be using it connected to the fw800 port of a macbook pro under logic studio. I'm planning on running it on the same ...

Flight Case Rack

I need to move a few pieces from Cincinnati to Austin, in particular my UAD LA-610, of which I am fond. I need about 6 rack spaces and the dimensions of the 610 preclude my being able to carry it on a plane. I can't seem to find anyone in Austin who has a 6-space flight case rack for rent (possibly ...

Try the gain plugin. It's in the utility folder. I think it will invert L/R.

First, I hide all the tracks that I've muted throughout the course of recording, whether because they were scratchers or because they aren't going to make the final mix. I like leaving this for right before mixdown because it gives me a refresher course as to the evolution of the song. Then, if this...

Since the classics have been mentioned quite a bit here, I'd like to throw out a couple titles that lie off the well-beaten path: Joe Lovano "Lush Life" - Arguably the world's premier tenor player in an orchestral setting with arrangements by Gunther Schueller. Incredible sonic...ohcrap! Out of prin...

Is it too late to discuss the potential of swapping snares between parallel universes? I think that would be a good way to keep the dwarves from racking up a lot of hours. After all, who likes servicing a dwarf?

I got this idea from a thread here, and I don't remember who suggested this, so apologies for the lack of credit: Set up some speakers close to the clapper. On each pass, play the preceding claps through the speaks. You will have to correct for distance from the mic eventually, but blended with the ...
