Mixing from Analog to Computer Files HELP ME!!!!

Hi

I am trying to convert my analog four track tapes to mp3 files. for whatever reason the program I have will not record the audio in on my sound card. I can hear it on the speakers, but the program doesn't pick it up.

here is what I have
Tascam 424
Windows XP

I did however just get a mac ibook (G4) and I'd really rather do all my mix down to that. But at this point I will take any advice on getting my audio tapes down to a digital format.

Some more details might help, like what program are you using to record with. You have to make sure that the correct input is enabled so the pc/progrma knows what to record.
