Amplitube et al

Running about 15-20 tracks through my Digi 002 on PT LE, and when I use the Amplitube plug-in on more than one track, things get sticky. I've increased the CPU power to 99% but that doesn't seem as good as 85% , MUST be system stuff.
Any popular techniques to get around the errors - besides knocking down mixes and putting them in new sessions? Bussing tricks??
