Re: which are better MONITORS???
I've got the M1's they're not bad, they've got some weirdness in the low-mids, everything sounds muddy there, which doesn't translate on other stereos but for the most part I feel they're solid, especially for a couple of hundred. I liked the Events when I demo'd them but they sounded like a home stereo with the loudness button in, please note the low-mid weirdness that I referenced previously it probably affected what I'm hearing now.

Re: which are better MONITORS???
i use event TR-8s on a regular basis. that's a great price. i like them a lot. i don't find them to by hyped on the low-end or the high-end. then again i work with them in a very well tuned room, and that makes a big difference. i've not heard the alesis speakers, so i guess i can't offer a comparison, but i can suggest tr-8 anyway...

Re: which are better MONITORS???
its funny for awhile thats the pairs of monitors i had in my studio. i have to say i found the events transfered much better to other systems, i found that the m1s didnt give me very good lows and i would end up mixing real muddy and bassy. that is a good price for the events as well, seems they go for a bit more than that on ebay.

I love Event monitors. Tuned Reference and the Precision series are both accurate and damn good sounding!

Look at the JBL Lsr 28p's if you can find them. The new JBL's are 6328's, I haven't used them but I really like the the lsr 28's

i was looking at the event TR-8s and almost bought them, until i decided that i need to go for a Sub+sattelites setup.
so im saving up for probably the blue sky prodesk instead.

Why did you decide on this? Can we talk you out of it?high tek wrote:i was looking at the event TR-8s and almost bought them, until i decided that i need to go for a Sub+sattelites setup.

i am mainly producing electronic and bass heavy compositions, and i find that with a sub you can get closer to what it would sound like at a club venue.... at modest volume.dynomike wrote:Why did you decide on this? also by comparison, ive heard numerous sub and no-sub systems and always preferred the sub.

They sound good, but will they accurately tell you what your music will sound like on other systems? I mean, if you listen to your goal music and match that sound you'll be good to go, but flat monitors are real nice for this reason. $.02

Re: which are better MONITORS???
no doubt, i will have more than one source of monitoring for the reason you mention (including home speakers), but i need (on top of that) something i can use as a microscope for precision tracking, and possibly even lite-mastering.logancircle wrote:They sound good, but will they accurately tell you what your music will sound like on other systems?
