cubase sl: how do I make single tracks into wave files?

Post by loudmusic » Wed May 26, 2004 4:48 pm

HI.

How do I explain this?

I need to turn each track I have recorded into a wave file, so that I can put it into a folder and take it to another studio.

I can't figure it out.

I also would like to know how to make all my clips the same length so that when we go to dump these waves into pro tools, they will all line up.

I have experimented a bit and have had no luck.
I need to get this taken care of because we are going into the other place friday!!

Thanks,
MARTIN

I don't know if it is the best way but you can mixdown with all the other tracks muted.

To make them the same length use the little scissors tool and select all the tracks.

Yeah, I guess I could do that, but that seems like a LAST RESORT!!

There has to be a "right way" to do this yeah? If not, I am being slapped in the face with a big flaw in this software!!

I'm going to do some searching on the web, if anyone here has any hints and suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

Yeah, exporting the tracks one by one is the only way i know of.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away.

I remember a year or to ago asking the same question. Exporting is the only way.

It really isn't that bad and will take only a couple of minutes. Cubase is really serious about preserving its file sequencing as is.

Couple of minutes? Not for my projects :/

When I read a reveiw of 2.0 , there was mention of a batch function that will do just this in Nuendo, but for the life of me, I can't find it.

The manual doesn't help a bit. What a p.o.s.

It's still worth loving. I haven't seen any programs that can do this. It kind of boggles the mind.

Well, NTrack ($70) saves each track as a 24 bit wav file. Great little tracker!

There's a Macro that does this automatically.
It's posted on club cubase in the tips and tricks page after the drum editing stuff.

The only bummer is the files wil end up in your audio folder so you'll have to find them amongst your other audio files.
The way around this is to save the project to another folder and replace all tracks with the bounced tracks, then delete everything that's not being used in the project.
PM me if you need help.

This will allow you to take a project will audio clips "all over the place" in your arrange window, and darn near INSTANTLY turn each individual track in to 1 continuous audio file. What's great about is ALL the tracks will START and END at the EXACT same place! Perfect Stem Mixes!!

Simply write a Macro in Cubase SX or Nuendo with the following elements:

Create Stems:

Edit - Select All

Transport - Locate Selection

Tool - Range Tool

Edit - Select All

Audio - Bounce

Voila! FAST Stem mixes of your audio!

Cool!

I didn't know about macros in Cubase.

What is a stem mix?

I don't know how your machine is configured to run Cubase, but in my version of Cubase SX I make a new folder for each song I record. Cubase SX makes an Audio folder within this folder, and records all my takes into it. I can be confusing to find individual tracks, but running cleanup after a project is saved, and done working on gets rid of unused audio files in the folder. Seems like you could just save all the audio, and fade/edit files to a cd to take that into a studio, providing they have the same version of your program, or can import Cubase files. I am digging recording with Cubase, but have never taken my recordings to a studio for further work. Not sure on that one.
