UAD 1 and PT 6.4...Is it ready for primetime?

Post by sricabla » Sat Sep 11, 2004 7:08 am

I hear good things about the UAD 1 but for PT on OSX there's been a lot of issues.
Is anyone running the UAD 1 on their PT LE on OSX?

Thanks in advance

I have 3 cards in a single 1.25Ghz G4. There are some issues. I can run quite a few plugins, but using a lot of the UAD plugins limits the amount of RTAS plugins I can use. With three cards, I can only use about 35% of the UAD card's DSP before the Mac complains and disconnects from my 002.

That being said, the channel strips (EQ and Compressor) sound great and I can run 32 instances of them and 3 reverbs before everything craps out. Sometimes I'll replace a few channels strips with the Cambridge EQ or the LA2A. If I'm lucky, with all those plug in counts, I can run a few digi gates. By using this method with the channel strips, I don't have to screw with the the non-existant delay compensation of PTLE.

Bottom line is it didn't really increase my DSP power, but gave me a really nice set of useful plugins with a reasonable plugin count.
