digital clipping noise when bouncing to disk

Post by tommy » Wed Oct 06, 2004 1:37 pm

Hello,

Lately i've been getting this these short and loud digital clipping type noise bursts at the end of some songs when bounced down to 16bit and put on CD from toast or jam. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS AND WHY IS IT HAPPENNING?

Thanks.

What is your hardware?

I use MOTU interfaces and if the buffer is set too low, I sometimes get pops when exporting audio.

I also have a motu. And I occassionally get the pops too, and my buffer is set to 1024. So i'm pretty sure its not that :? Its quite frustrating.

I'm using protools digi 001. the noise only happens at the tail end of the bounce for me. I'll try raising the buffer size. Any other ideas?

Is it actually clipping the master bus?

Stick a limiter on with a 0 threshold at the very end of your signal chain and see if it occurs.
