MIDI data from drum machine to separate track in ProTools?

Post by mikeyc » Wed Nov 03, 2004 8:16 am

OK, so I'm doing a session tonight. The band wants to send MIDI info from a pre-programmed drum track into PT on separate tracks. How do I do this? I don't tend to use the MIDI functions of PT so much. By the way, I'm running a 002r & PT 6.4.
Thanks for any info duders.

I dont know if there is an automatic way to do this but it should be fairly easy after the fact. record it all on one midi track. afterwards, make as many new midi tracks as you need and then copy and paste each note to new tracks.

I had to do that once for a band that had midi info on a drum machine. Like in the previous post, just record everything in one track that make a new track for every single track that you want seperate. It is time consuming but it gets the job done.

If you're referring to recording incoming data from each MIDI channel to a track in PT, then all you need to do is set the input of the MIDI track in PT to the channel you want it to record from.
