Oops, I posted this in general recording and it should be here....
I'm going to mix down from my 1/2" 8 track to 96khz/24 bit wav files on my PC. I've got a Mytek A/D and a RME Digi, but wasn't sure about the software to use. Does it matter what software I use since I'm only going to be recording 2 tracks of stereo. I don't need any multi-tracking or effects processing. Can I just use a cheaper program like Tracktion to capture the audio or should I consider something higher quality? Will I notice any difference in audio quality? I figure all the work is being done by the Mytek so the software makes no difference.

Nuendo 3 set at 32-bit float while using high end converters/clocks has been my solution for this and it sounds amazing.
