better cd burning for macs?

Post by maz » Thu Jan 06, 2005 10:32 am

So I've got a live concert that needs to go to CD. It's all in pro tools as stereo files now.

It obviously needs to be continuous with track markers being dropped in between the songs. But since you can't burn a freakin' CD in Pro Tools (but we can edit to video, WTF?), I need to know if there's a program out there that will let me bounce one file from PT of the whole record, import it to this awesomeness program, add track markers and burn.

I have Jam. I no likey Jam. I know I can use it for this, but I'm wondering if there's a program that does what I've described.

Thanks
Joe

really? Peak does this?

I need to do this to break up live recordings that I do here in the club and find the same problem - I have just been doing monster 80 minute tracks.

Make sure Waveburner supports the burner in your Mac.
Their web site claims support for all OEM Apple burners.
That's what we call a Big Fat Lie.
Works in my old 7300 w/Yamaha SCSII burner.
Doesn't work in the G4 w/stock Toshiba burner.

Why don't you like Jam?

You know the trick with taking one long file, doing your "track markers" in Pro Tools as regions, then dumping the regions into Jam? Sure, Jam's weak for not having track marking tools of its own, but I find this technique to be a decent workaround.

This may not really be the answer you are looking for, but what I was thinking was cut the piece up and save the regions as individual files, someone my come back to do a best of compilation or who knows what and then you would have all of the songs as individual files anyway...just a thought. Toast and jam are different products? I think toast can do all of the redbook stuff...I need to check that for certainty.
Take advantage of every feature in the Red Book audio CD specification.
Intuitively and enjoyable create DJ-quality crossfades between tracks using a flexible waveform interface.
Automatically normalize tracks
Dynamically adjust gain by channel.
Quickly insert and edit index points, and trim your sound data.
Take care of all your PQ subcode editing.

Print off complete track sheets to accompany your project.
Import SDII files too, I think this does it all
If it's not Scottish it's CRAP

I have Jam. I didn't know you could do this. Does anybody know if there is a way to do this with DP4?
