LaCie d2 harddrive question/PT

it has been suggested many times by numerous people on here that the Lacie d2 was a very good/great external harddrive to use with protools. (in my case, i will be using a g4 powerbook) can anyone explain the problems with it being actually 2 drives inside the d2. this is not listed anywhere but a friend has told me to watch out for any enclosure that has two seperate drives instead of just one. saying that it makes for a very unstable drive even with the oxford 911 chipset. for those people who are using this drive, have you had any problems. thanx
