Are all .RAR extractors created equal?

which ones do you use?
are there any free ones, and if so, are they safe?

WinRAR and WinAce are two applications that are free to download online and seem to both work fine. I've always stuck to WinAce...seemed to have better compatability with multiple file extensions (but that was a while ago so I don't know about now).

I ended up using this thing called Comprexx

it seemed OK, easy to use, and nothing got damaged 8)
