Live recording to 8

Post by RuudUnit » Mon Sep 08, 2003 2:17 am

Live recording to DP 4.1, through an echo layla.

I've been asked to do a live recording of a friend's band when they play at a local pub. I do sound there sometimes, so I know how I'm gonna route mics and all that business. My worry is my laptop and my software, which has a long history of being unreliable.

Any tips as far as a continuous 50 minute 8 track recording?

Anything I can do to prevent crashes or other interruptions?

Hmm... This should not be too much of a problem. If your using a Layla, I take it your laptop is a Powerbook? Are you just using an internal drive?

In OSX you might want to dis-able as much ram/processor intensive stuff as you can. All that animation stuff, if you have not done so already.

I would also ease back on the sample rate. DP4's new incarnation hopes to solves a lot of the issues regarding crashes.
