real time analyzer software?

Post by psychicoctopus » Fri Oct 03, 2003 10:57 am

Is anybody using real time analyzer software? Can you recommend any? I recently saw some live sound guys using a laptop to check system response, and it seems like by now, hardware RTA's would be pretty much obsolete.

I've played with Spectrogram v6.6 (shareware), which gives pretty high resolution, but it shows frequency on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis, so you get a scrolling readout rather than the typical RTA bargraphs.

Watching the spectrogram of a Coltrane solo = hypnosis... :jazzman:

The PAZ analyzer by waves is great.

It is a plug in. There is an RTAS version that would run within pro tools free.
