I'm a freelance engineer, and new to digital recording.
I have a generic Hard Drive that I use for the Mackie HDR24/96 at one studio, and I want to know if I can take the drive with it's unfinished projects to another studio that uses the Alesis HD24. Are the drives and the files created between the two platforms interchangable?
I'm recording band basics at one studio that has better gear all around and is somewhat expensive, but then would like to do all overdubs at a less elaborate cheaper studio. Then finally mix it back at the original "better" studio.
Please help! I've done a lot of reading and can't get to the bottom of it!
Thanks!

Render your projects to wav files with the HDR. Pull the drive,
then import the wav's in any other app you want.
I do this with cubase sx, but i'm sure the alesis has an import wav feature.
It should anyway.
