Hudson Valley, NY

Post by NewYorkDave » Wed Jun 11, 2003 9:16 am

I'm a guitarist/songwriter/singer with 20 years of experience and a large catalog of original songs. I've been out of the band scene since '93, but I'm feeling the need to rock again. I'd like to find a bassist and a drummer to put together a group for recording projects and occasional live gigs. I'm also open to any other interesting projects/situations.

My style is eclectic and I don't like to pigeonhole my music with labels, so I'll just list some of my major influences and let you draw your own conclusions.

In no particular order...

Ramones, Motorhead, early '80s hardcore, '70s punk, Black Sabbath, Buddy Holly, Beatles (of course), surf, classic vocal harmony a la Beach Boys and '50s doo-wop, Stooges, MC5, Rocket from the Tombs and Pere Ubu, NY Dolls, and even Charles Ives (since long before he was ever name-dropped in TapeOp  ).

I usually use the appellation "punk" when I'm pressed for a one-word description of what I play, but the term has been so debased that it's more meaningless now than ever. I could just as well say "rock 'n roll."

Please reply here via private message, and include your contact info. I have some recent rough demos which I'll share on request.

Hi Dave,

Wish I was closer. Sounds like we ended up with the same record collection.
