Musicians in Tacoma, WA area?

Post by Rolsen » Wed Sep 29, 2004 4:39 pm

Just fishing at the moment... Me: guitar, vocals. 28 yrs old. Played in bands, recorded and played shows in Seattle, Tacoma, Portland. I like: Flaming Lips, Catherine Wheel, Swervedriver, Failure (or any Ken Andrews thing), Porno for Pyros, Cure, Blinker the Star, Doves, Radiohead, alot of great Northwest bands, yada yada. Hint of English moodyness, interesting guitar, left-field Pop. Tacoma's a tough sell, I know. I'll drive a ways if need be.

Damn. Why doesn't anyone in Seattle want to do a Swervedriver-esque band?

I'm not ruling out Seattle! I'm surprised the Swervedriver reference has stirred this interest! It wasn't so much the pedal-crazed applications that got me as it was that smooth Brit vocal delivery on top of (or amongst) non-standard guitar stylings. Throw in that occasional gentle surf-whammy - oh my god! A lot of atypical components forming, in my opinion, a 'pop' sound. I guess Swervedriver kinda embodies what I'm looking for in that respect.

Thanks for the replies so far! Anybody else?

I love Swervedriver! I saw them twice in Seatown and I totally miss them these days. Mezcal Head rips!

I play bass and drums, and can play guitar, but gits are probably my weakest instrument.
