With all the Beatles book talk I cant believe more people arent saying Dr. Dog. Easy Beat is the closest album ive heard that recreates George Martins production.

absolutely- i think it was done back in 01 or '02. its actually one of my faves. he's quite the funny guy too..

Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree. He is the driving force behind that band, but he is also a producer and I absolutely love everything he's ever touched(Fish, Opeth, Blackfield, No Man, etc). I love the way this guy does vocal production, the arrangements and engineering behind them produce some fantastic sounds.

Also, Marillion. Not to pick two artists from a similar genre, but these guys have stuck to their vision and created quite a nice little cottage industry through skillfully adept, pioneering uses of the Internet. Plus their albums sound fantastic, especially their most recent one, Marbles. I piece on Dave Meegan, who produced that album, would be cool too.
