Sly and Robbie
prince paul
booker t jones
aphex twin
kid 606
and some of the 80s british geeks:
Flood
Chris Nagle (new o, joy d, ramones, inspiral carpets, gbh, The Durutti Column)
Stephan street
Neill King
daniel miller (mute label head)
another john leckie interview more concerned with the stone roses, the bends and the first Verve record.
I too would love to see some of the 70s/80s gear pioneers already mentioned in behind the gear.

The elusive Nigel Godrich...no good interviews on him to be found.
Also Neil Finn, Mitchell Froom, Colin Linden (who's done some excellent work with Bruce Cockburn), and Jonathan Goldsmith.

Creed Taylor - one of the best jazz producers of all time. Interview him before he dies.

How bout Will Holland, of Quantic and Quantic Soul Orchestra? He's a jazz/electronica musician and producer on Ubiquity Records who does a fantastic job of making his albums sound "old." I think his techniques would be of interest to a lot of readers.
