Had a GREAT time meeting with TJ and Walter Sear this past Friday. I'm going to be able to interview Jeff Tweedy for a sidebar to the TJ interview, so post any questions you might have for him here: http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopi ... 777#471777

So we can expect this in the next issue, not the one that just came out?

I'm still editing the transcript for Larry. Not sure when it will run, but I'll keep you posted. I think it'll make for a great read!

Heres an article from Modern Drummer that discusses the Drum sounds achieved on Sky Blue Sky. There's a whole lot more at his site too.

Great read, thanks! I really like when he mentions tuning the snare loose so the drums sort of blend in together more, rather than go for the typical "cutting through" snare sound.

I love that too. Someone on this board said that they like a little rattle on the snares and that it makes it sound bigger and it does.

He also said that on his 13 and 14 toms he used calfskin heads. That must be why the drums are so damn warm and leather-y sounding on tunes with all those great drum breaks like Hate It Here. Wish I had some damn calfskin.....Scratch that....I wish I were half as good as him!!

Larry,

YES! An insight into the recording of Sky Blue Sky would be great! It's one of the best sounding CDs in recent years IMHO.

In particular the guitar recording is spectacular. I also would like to see a breakdown of the set-up at the Loft. Any insight into A Ghost is Born would be welcome as well. There doesn't seem to be much technical info about that one and the Mermaid Ave stuff.

TJ provided some GREAT insight into the recording of both "Sky Blue Sky" and "A Ghost Is Born" (I've already copped his killer guitar setup!). Not sure yet when it will run, but I think you'll enjoy the article quite a bit.

Thats cool. Surely there will be some obscure item in the chain that will instantly make eBay auctions go crazy with bidding.
