Interview Suggestion: Hayden

Post by the finger genius » Fri Sep 12, 2008 7:18 am

Canadian artist, I think he records himself at home, and he's made some really cool sounding records. I'd be very keen on gaining some insight into his recording methods / philosophy.

+1 for this idea, In Field and Town is definitely one of my favorite albums of 2008.

Went to see him on Friday, it was an excellent show. For NY / NJ Tapeoppers, I think he's playing again this Saturday at Maxwell's in Hoboken.

Beethoven too.

I heard someone suggested he stop writing music down and get a Mac. He threw a chamber pot at them and started yelling.

What?
Bad joke. There's a heavy duty classical composer named Haydn (without the "e"). Haydn . . . Beethoven . . . geddit?

Seemed like a clever idea in the middle of the night.

I was with you; my thought was to say "good luck interviewing a guy who's been dead since 1809."

anyway, carry on, all.

Its not that bad. I think posts that were created in the middle of the night should probably not be read at 6 in the morning.

I mainly was enjoying the image of Beethoven going off on some schmuck from MIX. Apparently B was the prototypical grouchy perfectionist genius; not someone you wanted to work for.

So . . . back to this Hayden dude.
