Web Audio Grabber

Post by Al_Huero » Fri Mar 20, 2009 8:48 am

In the previous issue before the current one I recall Larry or Andy listed some information on a software utility that lets you grab audio from the web (Youtube, etc.). I've found a few that get both audio and video, but I don't need the video. I don't have the issue handy, so anyone know what was referenced? Thanks.

WireTap

My trial version lapsed though, and I'm not sure it's worth $69 for me as I don't know how much I'd use it.

For Mac OSX, there is Audio Hijack Pro, which I have been using since 2004 or so.

Take a youtube address: Example let's say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sOnDVMU ... annel_page because it's a really cool and rarely viewed video. Once you have loaded it as a page, type the word kick into the address, eg. http://www.kickyoutube.com/watch?v=_sOn ... annel_page and then you can download the audio as MP3, the video as FLV, or the video as quicktime. Very handy. It's confusing at first though. You click once on the format you want, then once on the button at the right that says 'go', then wait a sec, then you right click and download the audio or video you wanted.
