TapeOp in europe no longer for free?
i got the following mail today.
is this for real?
Dear Tape Op EU subscriber,
Thank you very much for being a Tape Op Subscriber and helping us to launch the magazine in the EU!
Unfortunately we are unable to continue to offer a free subscription. Our costs have been higher
than we expected and the current economic situation is not helping.
We have tried to make it as affordable as possible - only ?15 per year.
Go here to sign up for a one year subscription (6 issues).
https://ssl.tapeop.com/ukeu/
You will still be able to collect a copy from Pro-Audio retailers like Jukebox and Audio Addict in France
or Telenordia in Germany, these copies will be 100% free - check out the web site for a list of stockists.
If you enjoy reading the magazine let the people you buy gear from and the gear manufacturers themselves
know that you read Tape Op. The bottom line is Tape Op is advertiser supported and the more ads we have,
the more editorial we can run.
If you have any questions about the paid subscription email eusubs@tapeop.com
Thanks for reading Tape Op,
Al, Larry and John

The email is unfortunately 100% legit. Postage from the UK to mainland Europe has become far too costly to maintain the free subscription. Postage to the UK is much, much cheaper so it's possible to keep that free. UK subscribers should still be receiving the magazine and should not have got the email.
You will have to resubscribe if you are now in a paid subscription country and will have to do so annually.
We really appreciate the support we've been shown from the whole of Europe and we tried to keep the subscription cost down as low as possible, as far as I know we're the cheapest pro audio magazine on a per issue basis in Europe. Hopefully you can all keep reading!
Thanks again for the support!

I believe that i've just received my 6th free issue, here in the UK. I was under the impression after 6 issues, it requires m to re-subscribe again for a further 6 issues. Correct?
If so, where do i re-subscribe?
The magazine is great. to be honest, I'd have no problem paying the ?15 if necessary.
Many thanks for all the hard work TapeOp team!

The expiration is not automated, we have to manually 'tell' the database to send out resubscriptions - this means that people slip through for a while. You will always get a resubscribe email if your subscription has officially expired so don't worry!TSTW wrote:I believe that i've just received my 6th free issue, here in the UK. You should have started with Issue 73 (October 15th) - email eusubs@tapeop.com and I can check your subscription confirmation then get a replacement copy sent out.
Thanks,
Al
