The Al Kooper Interview

Post by findaguitarteacher » Sat Nov 14, 2009 3:33 pm

Thanks so much for your Al Kooper interview in the Sept / Oct 2009 issue. I've been intrigued by the multi-faceted nature of Al's career - particularly inspired by the tale of how he came to play organ on Dylan's Like A Rollin' Stone - thinking of it as a true expression of the vibe required to play music.

While your interview covered many topics about Al that I already knew, it also drew my attention to aspects of his approach and career that I had not known.

Great stuff!

If you haven't already read it, Al's book "Backstage Passes And Backstabbing Bastards" is one of the best rock books ever written. the man is truly the Zelig of rock. It's incredible how many key moments in rock history happened aroud him and he was mostly straight for it all , so he remembers the details. It was out of print for a while, but it's available on his website www.alkooper.com
