The Believer magazine has a series called Creative Accounting that exposes the financing behind creative projects. The 2010 Music Issue's Creative Accounting compares analog and digital costs.

LAME! Don't bother clicking. No money shot. They stop just short of detailing how they could possibly manage to spend over $200,000 recording their album at Tiny Telephone.
