I believe issue #46 maybe have been the issue in question. I am in the market for powered studio monitors and a friend of mine told me that in this particular issue Bob Ezrin was the main feature and in the gear section these studio monitors were mentioned that were excellent quality and inexpensive as well. I think they are made by a small lesser known company. Any of you folks who have access to back issures happen to know?
thanks much!

looking at the archive page on tapeop.com it looks like the bob ezrin article was all the way back in issue 31, from 2002. Unfortunately my collection doesn't go back that far. Good luck.

B & W Matrix 805 speakers were reviewed by Steve Silverstein in that issue. They aren't powered, though, and were recommended to be used as alternates or complimentary monitors to your main monitors as they have a de-emphasized midrange and increased lows and highs. Great for checking parts of your mix, but potentially misleading in general. The review listed them at $700.
