Reinhold Mack (fireplace?)

Post by krispoulin » Sun Mar 20, 2011 3:19 pm

I really enjoyed the interview with Reinhold Mack a couple of issues ago, but one question has been bugging me since and I can't seem to find anything on it via various searches online.

On the track sheet included in the article (for "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love") there are pairs of tracks labeled "fireplace". What on earth is this referring to?

Or am I simply misreading the handwriting?

Thanks.

Funny....I saw that too, and I thought it might be a room/ambient mic in a fireplace. That'd be some wicked verb if it was at the top of a chute.

but...it would be good to know what it actually was. :D

Most of the wood came from an 18th century fireplace mantel that a friend of the family was about to throw away.

So it's just a custom built guitar made out of an old fireplace.

...well thats boring!

I'll guarantee you the notes that this guitar has played over the years are far from boring!

I've thought of Brian's guitar when I have bought and sold guitars over the years. Here is a guitar he built with his dad that he just used the shit out of. No flavor of the month BS. Just Killer Queen..

I apologize Larry....i should have been more clear. Sarcasm doesn't always translate on message boards.

I actually found the wiki article really interesting, and even though I enjoy most of Queens catalog, I'm not an aficionado. One of things I enjoy most about Queen is Brians guitar work. That solo on Killer Queen always gets me...some of the best sounding guitars ever recorded.
