The interview's definitely a highlight of the new issue. Your sigh made me do some googling, & I saw his console got sold to help pay medical expenses. That console is a real thing of beauty--hope it's in good hands.

Yeah, it's the first time a TO article made me cry, and I haven't actually read it yet...
I just opened it up, saw the pic of Kearney, and the tears just flowed...
I'm now waiting for a special time to just sit down and take in the whole article...

Ya see, Kearney Barton is what Tape Op is all about, and deserved to be featured in issue #1....
Analog tape, a lathe in the corner, 2 Altec coke bottles and an EV666 on the drums, piles of U47s and 251s waiting for duty, big Altec monitors, a Scully 8-track, and "keep it simple"...

I only visited his place once about 10 years ago, (with a friend who was going to write an article for Tape Op!), and just totally fell in love with the guy...
Funnier than hell, totally opinionated (and always right!), and he infamously kept his studio in in a total trainwreck state...

I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but I'm gonna go get the Fleetwoods recordings that I loved as a kid...

Long live Kearney Barton....
