Past article on preparing drums for the studio?

Post by EasyGo » Tue Aug 14, 2012 8:06 pm

Can anyone tell me in what issue the article relating to preparing drums for studio recording appeared? I believe it may have been written by Chris Garges. It had loads of info on getting the best sounds out of drums, eliminating extraneous noise, and the like. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You're probably thinking of the Dave Mattacks article. Don't know the issue # off the top of my head, but the site should be able to tell you.

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to dig around until I find that issue and check it out. Also the Dave Mattacks article on drum tuning in #43, which was also mentioned.

We have a 1960s gold badge Ludwig kit here that could benefit from some TLC. Thanks again!

Actually that's #60, but who's counting? :)

I located my copy of #79 (which I actually bought), so between that and #43, I'm excited to revisit those drum prep and tuning articles. By now, I have quite a stash of back issues. They are a great resource and fun to reread!

Oops. 79 is free on the iPad app, I assumed it was the same issue.
