I am not sure if Stewart Cararas (typical moniker is picksail) is on the Tape Op message board, but he may be one of the most unfortunate victims of this incredible disaster. If you were down at Tape Op, he was on the Pro Tools panels...actually the owner of the HD system that was being used for the panels. He is an incredible guy, that kept up an incredible studio...completely clean, beautiful and absolutely wonderful sounding. The horrible pictures of the damage can be viewed over at GearSlutz...

Prior to damage photos are here:

I know he is still looking for work, so if anyone out there could help him out, send him a message (as I said I don't know if he is on Tape Op), or send me a message and I will give him a call personally. Like I said, he is a great guy, and incredible person to talk to. He ran a really freaking great, tight ship.

As for other NOLA folks, I haven't heard much about Chris George (on the Mixing on a Budget Panel), but from what I saw on his MySpace it looks like he was safe and sound up in Memphis....I have no idea how his studio (http://www.thelivingroomstudio.com) made out though. Chris is on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/thelivingroom . I will try and call up a mutual friend of ours tonight and see if he has the scoop.

Wish all these folks luck though, the city is trying its damndest to come back in full force. Maybe I will catch some of you folks at our mini-Mardi Gras this year!

And miss it each night and day.

The longer I stay away."
