Post by Marlowe » Tue Feb 21, 2006 6:10 am

Will there be a discount rate for the hotel as in past years?

Absolutely. It will be set up VERY soon. Everything is running late due to Hurricane Katrina, I hope people understand.

Here it is:
http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/groups/priv ... shthh_tap/

Please sign up for roms through this site, otherwise we don't get credit for driving the room bookings and then if we don't make the "room block" the hotel will make us pay the difference. That means we lose money. Not good.

See all the wonderful things I get to learn about so we can have a conference?

El Con and Camp Tape Op

Post by TapeOpLarry » Tue Feb 21, 2006 5:42 pm

You are just not going to believe the deal we just hooked up for TapeOpCon 2006! We will take over the incredible Hilton El Conquistador, a four-star resort at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains in the high desert of northwest Tucson Arizona. Built to beautifully and harmoniously blend into the lush surrounding desert, the El Conquistador exudes a really chill, atmosphere while offering luxurious rooms, meeting facilities and amenities. Oh yeah, despite this level of luxury, our room rates will be at the ridiculously low $99 per night and you can arrange airport shuttle transportation through the hotel for $37.00 round trip.
Book your room and shuttle transportation now!

Why we choose the El Conquistador:
? Vibe ? Very cool, very chill. You?ll know what we mean when as soon as you arrive.
? Luxury -- Gorgeous, large guest rooms each with either balconies or patios with spectacular views
? Hotel Service and Staff ? They are into what TapeOpCon is all about and are dedicated to making this an incredible experience for all of us
? Nature --Incredible outdoor space with an amazing view of Pusch Ridge
? Fun! ? Recreation facilities include a ginourmous pool with 143? waterslide and waterfall, pool basketball and volleyball areas
? Variety ? The resort offers loads of options for when you or your guest feel like getting active or getting really lazy ? canyon hikes, horseback rides, mountain biking, jeep rentals, golf and tennis. Spa, hot tub.
? Meeting facilities ? beautiful and comfortable; most with adjacent patios
? Party facilities ? We will have some awesome events on the hotel grounds
? Affordable and easy Airport shuttle transportation

So, where is it written that because we are recording engineers and musicians, we don?t deserve to get out from our studios and treat ourselves to something really nice once in a while? When the ?El Con? is paired with evenings in the gorgeous Fox Theater and in the funky downtown Tucson clubs, this is going to be a TapeOpCon no one should miss. Also, everyone who can, should seriously consider taking advantage of this awesome resort at these great rates and add some vacation time before or after the conference.

Be careful about referring to it as "El Con". "El Con" is the name of an ugly shopping mall on Broadway in Tucson.

Guilty as charged and thanks for the correction. I would plead ignorance, but I know that is no excuse. The extraordinary "Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort" is definitely not to be confused with an ugly suburban mall, but it is quite a mouthful to type. Let's just call it Camp TapeOp.
