Good to read these rave reviews, as I already had an order in for the EH pre when this thread started. I am salivating, etc.

Have to cast a vote for the 4 channel Sytek 4 {mpxi)? Ive used for some months and it seems to capture distrorted guitar tones and drum overheads well. I don't have experience with High end gear and can't give comparisons. Just hocked the chickens for one Neve portico 5012, and hope these are all this little backyard studio will ever need. Someone feel free to dish delight with these units to ease my guilt over spending so much money on them.

My vote would go to that group of tube preamps blending old and new, such as the Pendulum MDP-1a, DW Fearn VTP2, Manley, Forsell, etc.

Those pres will be around for a long time.

The further away the power supply, the better - but the wall wart probably isn't grounded - is anyone grounding these suckers by any method?

A lot of people have been saying that the A Designs stuff will end up being one of the long term champs. I kinda believe. Their mic pres are awesome, both the Pacificas and the MPs.

They also have 3 new 500 form factor pres coming out soon, plus the Pacifica (P1) card is out already. 4 new pres for you lunchboxers. Makes me want to get a lunchbox now.

Get this: I just called my local Guitar Center (which is usually a waste of time) and asked them if they sold the Hum X Eliminator from Ebtech and of course the guy didn't know what I was talking about. I told him I needed it to go in front of the wall wart for my 12AY7. The guy suggested I drive a long piece of rebar into the ground and run a ground wire for my electrical at the house to solve the problem.

Someone please remind me why Guitar Center even exists?

To sell eleven year olds Squier Strats and 20 watt Crate amps.

This EH design sounds really great, but I'd want
A.)More gain
B.)Internal Power Supply (Most likely in a rack mounted case)

Then again, you can't complain too much for the price.

It's a dudue/bro intern program. Without GC, those pimply teenagers would be running around out in the real world spreading rubbishy advice and opinions- AND CALLING PEOPLE DUDE. Blech, ptooey, i hate that place. Friggin' K Mart of gear.
