Recording's now 2nd fiddle to my other money pit....farming. I sure pick "lucrative" hobbies. Now I just need to figure out how to combine them.[/quote]

Let me know when you figure that one out!!!

To start playing my own music again and make my own record.

To make better recordings, naturally.

Learn to solder and build my own gear.

Not buy anything that is not a DIY piece that I can learn from.
(at the top of the list is 7th circle preamps)

Make the little indie film that my friend and I have been writing/planning
for 3 years...

Spend way less time on TapeOp and Gearslutz, write more songs instead.

Co-produce and engineer a record with a great engineering pal I met last year.

most of all....

To want the gear I already have and learn more about how to use it instead of
lusting after other stuff. (except for those 7th circle pres....)

- Find a bored musician with lots of time to experiment on.
- Wire up the patchbay more honestly.
- Finish my performance rig.
- Finish the Tape Optocomp.

1. Be able to handle being the 1st. assistant (not 2nd) on a scoring session in studioA, and finally get out of my studioC rut, as nice a rut as it is. Scary.
2. Increase my income (partially tied to #1 and another side oppurtunity that recently came my way).
3. Downsize and streamline my home studio, trim the fat, increase workflow even at the expense of having lots of "cool" junk to look at.
4. Increase my understanding of the electronic side of gear even more than I did this year, which was a little but nontheless significant.
5. Finish my project with my brother-in-law, and move on to another, even if it's with him.
6. Knock up my wife
7. Get better at bass, which I just picked up this year and wish THAT was the instrument I picked up when I was 12.
8. Ride my bike even more, when my knee gets better
9. Get better at speaking Italian so I can go back in 2006!
10. Try and come out of my shell a bit and not be so socially retarded.
11. Celebrate 1 year free of cigarettes in March!

Damn, my plate is full.

1. go the extra mile
2. be more generous
3. chase after projects that are more creatively fulfilling
4. buy a decent eq and learn how to use it
5. move the computer out of the live room!
6. spend more time with better producers and engineers in better studios
7. get to know the gear i have more
8. mix mix mix
9. give away free trial days to attract new clients
10. push it push it push it

i bought an m49 this year, and i got a tube 47 last year, and a cmv563 the year before that, so i guess i'm gonna take a break from vintage mics in 2006. i surely wouldn't mind grabbing a u67 though.

my main 2006 goal for the studio was started a couple of days ago. we were in the basement of a tattoo shop. and we still are. but now we've also got the basement of the bar right next to the tattoo shop. so we're gonna build 3 more rooms. a totally dry room, an amp room, and a new lounge. we bought a vending maching that will only have pabst blue ribbon inside of it, too. awesome.

Get the website up and running (I'm actually shooting for Jan 1 for that).

Spend at least some time every week writing songs, even if it's only half an hour. (Hopefully that'll allow me to update the aforementioned website every now and then!)

Buy some sort of sampler and a Marxophone.

Convert one of my autoharps from a chromatic into a diatonic.

Keep learning how to, you know, record stuff.

Move into a new space - my basement is just sooo not ideal on so many levels.

Make the jump to Protools.

Get the old Tascam 1" 16 track up and running again.

Play more shows - I miss doing that.

Write better songs.

Incorporate.

Quit smoking!!!!!! (That really should be on top).

I could continue, but I'll stop there before I have an anxiety attack.

Record more, but spend less time in the studio.

Learn to play the theremin well.

Then join some sweet electronic band and get huge.

Spend more time west of Pasadena.

Eatmo gravy
praise my children more
read that 9 million books I swore I'd read
follow my heart
live my dream some more
push a ton of badass music through my studio to the usual rave reviews
let my wife know what
re-define the term "star"
leave an internationally recognized benchmark standard of "ass kickin"
let things be
Harumph!

I'd like to be able to make it through the year with the studio that I'm opening. Oh yeah, I'm also going to try not to kill again. And vitimins. I'm going to take vitimins. That's it, I guess.
