Classic Studio Chatter....
Hi all....
I wanna hear those classic moments of unguarded studio chatter captured on tape that will stand the test of time, and give some insight on the recording process...
Here's a real classic...
Crosby and Stills discussing the Dead vs. the Airplane...
Pretty damn hilarious!
Troggs anyone??

Re: Classic Studio Chatter....
i always used to love this stuff. at some point, something snapped in my head, and i realized, "this is calculated spontaneity." performance. a dubious attempt to "touch" the listener. a marketing scheme.tonewoods wrote:Hi all....

not that people necessarily make up scenes and pretend they're spontaneous and authentic (which of course, does happen), but at some point they made the decision to put it on the record...

That's the one I'm looking for. I notice they left THAT out of the movie.drumsound wrote:A friend in college had a tape of Ray's bass player freaking out on stage. Ray keeps asking for security.
Yeah, I've had those for a long time. Have you ever seen the comic book-like cartoons that were drawn of those? Again, hilarious.drumsound wrote:Chris do you have the Buddy Rich Bitch Tapes?

Of course, there's always the Negativland's lawsuit version of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" featuring Casey Kasem flipping out between takes of American Top 40.

All I know is that
There were rumours he was into field hockey players
There were rumours
-So he applied basically
-He was gone the next day
-And went off with the team
-It's like - he was go-they just like
It was so hush hush
They were so... quiet about it
And then the next thing you know...

Here's "The Troggs Tape"...
A classic...
Here's some English bloke slurring out a version of "Please Please Me"...
It gets cut off at the end, but he goes on to say how he could have written a better bridge....
You can smell that the engineers who taped this stuff really wanted to preserve it and pass it around for various reasons...
That Murrey tape is priceless...
Just go get the Pet Sounds Box Set. It has at least 2 CDs worth of Brian directing the crew to victory.
An amazing insight as to how those records were pieced together...
